Director of Finance — Fairfax, VA

Full-time (FT)
60-90K depending upon qualifications

Job Description: Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures and internal controls in the US and international offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and monthly financial statements
  • Monitor accounting calendar
  • Prepare quarterly intercompany invoices
  • Audit work flow to assure all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized
  • Assure internal control compliance
  • Apollo to Zeus and Zeus to QuickBooks reconciliations
  • Corporate credit cards: receipt verification and payment preparation (US office only)
  • Data Entry into QuickBooks and other records: payroll and contractor pay data entry, employee expense reports
  • Coding and entry of vendor invoices
  • Preparation of monthly evaluator check payments
  • Oversee A/R personnel and processes
  • Assist in budget preparation
  • Assist in calculation of overhead rates
  • Sales commission calculations
  • Prepare US financials for review
  • 401(k)/Profit-sharing plan update (annual)
  • Miscellaneous projects as needed to enhance accounting methodologies worldwide
  • Use computer and printer to process incoming trucks and
  • Direct the drivers to the landfill.
  • Collect fees or bill as appropriate.
  • Will train on computer system.
  • English- Spanish speaker a plus.
  • Attention to detail not speed is most important.
  • Ability to work alone

Experience Required: Minimum 7 years experience in a similar role, 2 years minimum at the management level; international finance experience strongly preferred.

Education Required: Minimum Bachelors degree in finance or accounting; MBA/CPA strongly preferred.

Associated Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel.
  • Knowledge of international banking and foreign currency.
  • Ability to work independently; and to schedule time and resources effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to listen and ask for clarification.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team spirit; strong supervisory skills; ability and willingness to mentor subordinates
  • Ability to respond to team and customer needs; to meet commitments.
  • Ability to problem-solve and find creative solutions to problems using available resources.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Internet Explorer and MS Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages in a deadline-driven environment.

Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods, to use hands for keyboarding and writing, ability to speak and hear, to use close and distance vision, to walk on level surfaces, and to bend and lift occasionally (e.g. to maintain or store company files.) Work Environment: Ambient lighting and temperatures, typical office equipment, low to moderate noise levels characteristic of an office environment.

Evaluation Process: 90 days initial performance; annual thereafter — performance and goal-based.
